In Memory of Simmer Down Harley D. Brown

May 29, 1995 to December 24, 2008

We are very sad to announce the passing of our gentle sweet ol' boy, Harley. He died in his sleep early Christmas Eve morning. We will miss him dearly, but we'll always keep him in our hearts.

Labor Day on the Rocks

We decided to escape the rainy Labor Day in Orem with a trip south to our friend's old topaz claim to play around in better weather. We managed to get as much dirt and rocks in our hair, eyes and noses as possible. (I'm still picking little rocks out of my hair....)

And to make the day extra special, Will treated us to some of his favorite musical selections from "Weird Al" Yankovic and The Wiz soundtrack as we "eased on down the road...." I know you're all jealous you missed out on that experience!

The dirt doesn't look too bad from here!
Some of the booty! Underneath the crust are beautiful amber stones.

Out with the Gold!

Last summer we decided we couldn't take our circa 1977 Harvest Gold kitchen any longer. It was nearly all original...the cabinets, Formica counter and matching gold stove. But why stop there? Out came the dividing wall between the living room and kitchen too. Here's a "before" picture. Yes, it's as tiny as it looks!

Oh, did I mention how much fun the demolition was?
Then there was the issue about the family room downstairs. The rust colored carpet was great for hiding stains and the dark wood paneling surrounding the fireplace only added to that ala 70's ambiance. But since we were in the mood to fix the place up, the outdated downstairs got a facelift while we were at it....

All that hard work has finally paid off. We have "half" of a beautiful new home. (The basement and upstairs are currently works in progress....) And in case you were wondering, the three-year bathroom remodeling project was finished this year as well!

Below is a view of the living room without a wall in the way. There is a counter in its place. It really opened up the room and changed the whole feel of the house.
